Winning Entry: Camp Robin Hood
Camp Robin Hood is located on an identified cultural heritage site which occupies 50 acres in the newly named Rouge National Urban Park in Markham, Ontario.
Overall health, wellness & sun safety have been a particular focus for the camp’s programs, as Bev Unger, head of Camp Robin Hood Health Centre for almost 20 years, is a registered nurse and the 2016 recipient of the Association of Camp Nurses Camp Nurse of the Year Award.
“Camp Robin Hood is an outdoor program with very limited indoor programming each day. The addition of a sun shade system would allow the camp to enhance protection for our campers and staff during peak hours of the day, and allow us to address the reality of more intense heat and sun exposure that appears to be upon us each summer while continuing to maintain the outdoor natural environment we are lucky to be in.”
